Sandringham High School’s Class of 2024 has achieved a staggering 94% matric pass rate, up from just 46% the year before — a 48 percentage point leap.
This dramatic improvement is being credited to the sheer determination and sacrifice of the learners, many of whom gave up weekends, public holidays, and school vacations to attend intensive extra lessons.
Principal Pascal Rekhoto applauded their relentless drive, saying:
“This result didn’t come as a surprise. These learners gave it everything. Their hard work throughout the year, especially in their final term, truly paid off.”
The school introduced early-year baseline assessments to pinpoint learner weaknesses, followed by tailored support programs. Many students voluntarily committed to early-morning sessions, afternoon classes, and holiday workshops in a bid to improve their academic standing.
This level of dedication has not only boosted results but also fostered a culture of peer support, with stronger learners stepping up to assist classmates in need — especially in subjects like economics, which ultimately saw an 88% grade average after targeted intervention.
For Sandringham learners, this pass rate wasn’t given — it was earned through grit, time, and total commitment.
